I have never been a huge poppy wearer. There is a significant guarantee that I will lose my poppy atleast 3 to 4 times in the 2 weeks that I try to wear it for.
It tends to frustrate me that the system of the straight pin is entirely not the best method to wear these emblems.
I am sure that a lot of people have grandparents who have fought in the war and have most concievably have things that families don't discuss at Thanksgiving because the closeness of the season of thankfullnes and one of the most commemorative days of our Nation's history.
I have a friend in the US Army. Before him, November 11th did not cause me to lament. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful and respectful but it seemed to hit a little closer to home this time because someone I love got hurt defending his country.
It's so crazy that it takes a tragedy to think about the essence of life. The fragility of who we are as humans
I was looking over some quotes that I have collected and put in a folder on my desktop.
I came across this one;
“are we defending life when we just pick and choose
lives acceptable to lose and which ones to defend?”

deep... what happen'd to the ol' green centred poppy?
i've often thought the same thing, Jooje. Perhaps the black veterans complained and they switched it to accomodate them. But the leprechauns who fought for our freedom must be mighty pissed.
You know what's interesting? People get mad at you if you're wearing 18 poppies.
Never thought of those leprechaun veterans. Thank you Mark for opening me to a whole new world...:)
hey, I started it... where's my props?
props danny...props to ya bra'
I don't know why the centre went black. I heard that it was because they actually are black in real life and they wanted it to look more "lifelike"
Plus the black centered ones aren't as good for making Opium. It's the veterens way of combating the new wave of Opium dens starting up these days.
Did the veterans take a vote about the colour of the center? If so, it was a poppy-larity contest.
oh man...mark...you did not...
I am suprised you have enough guts to post a comment when you deleted my link from your blog...;)
it took some major encouragement and support from some close friends to work up the courage...
he brought back my link... you're not impotent enough amanda.
Does that make you impotent, Jooje? You learn something new everyday.
